Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Los Pinos Fly Shop is a medium sized urban specialty store that emphasises the 'Nuts & Bolts' of fly-fishing. We carry a full line of top quality equipment for both fresh and saltwater, particularly fly tying materials and rods & reels. The staff consists of Lee & Bob Widgren, Paul Zimmerman & Phil Guerin. We all have our particular loves of fly fishing: Paul the manager is a saltwater junkie, Phil is our part-time school teacher and full time Steelheader (or vice versa), Lee enjoys high mountain freestone streams and Bob just loves to catch fish, no matter what kind, no matter where or when. Bob & Lee started building custom fly rods in 1980 when they started Los Pinos Custom Rods in northern New Mexico. From that modest start, Los Pinos has become the Headquarters of fly-fishing in the state of New Mexico.

Comments From Scott
Los Pinos is a great fly shop staffed by even better people. These guys are all about instruction, as you might garner from their extensive school offerings. Los Pinos offers schools for virtually every type of local fishing and has built a rich tradition in rod building. They are the driving force in Albuquerque's growing fly fishing populace, a shop that promotes, teaches, and leads fly fishing. Albuquerque is an unsung promised land for fly fishers. More than 10 species of fish may be caught on the fly in the area's lakes and streams. Albuquerque needs an all-serving fly shop. Their tremendous selection of fly tying materials is one of the many reasons that Los Pinos has become an invaluable resource for local and traveling anglers alike.

Rod Recommendations
G 904: All purpose trout rod.

HP 889/3: There's almost nothing this rod won't do in the salt.

ARC 1287/3: We prefer two handers for steelheading, and this one's our favorite.
