Jeff Putnam is one of the West's premier fly casting instructors. Putnam is an accomplished angler of fifteen years who has dedicated the last nine years to teaching schools and clinics in California. A certified casting instructor with the Federation of Fly Fishers, Putnam has been featured as a casting and fly tying instructor with the International Sportsman's Exposition Shows up and down the West Coast. Putnam has extensive guiding experience in Colorado, Montana and California. Jeff has also worked in fly shops throughout northern California, and currently works for the American Fly Fishing Company in Sacramento (one of the best Scott dealers in America).

Jeff has developed a series of fly fishing instructional seminars that he conducts through Scott dealers all over California. Seminar subjects include basic casting instruction, fly presentation, advanced casting techniques, equipment theory, entomology, knots, wading safety, playing and releasing fish, and fly fishing ethics. When not teaching or working in the shop, Putman is a fly fishing maniac. Living in Northern California, his favorite species are trout and steelhead. Jeff's favorite rods are the SES 905/3 for trout and the SES 958/3 for steelhead and salmon.
