Author, orator, fly tyer, casting instructor, and angler, Alex has become a universally loved and widely known fly fishing personality at the age of 30. Alex was born and raised in British Columbia, began tying flies commercially at age 12, and has worked in fly shops throughout the U.S. and Canada for the past ten years. In addition to basic courses in fly tying and casting, Alex has developed a host of specialized fly fishing curriculums including "Saltwater Salmon Fly Fishing" and "Steelhead Fly Fishing," and teaches over 200 anglers annually. He is also a three-time member of the Canadian National Fly Fishing Team, taking honors for top rod on that team in the 1995 competition.

Alex is Scott's casting instructor for British Columbia. Each summer, he teaches casting and fishing courses through Scott dealerships in the region. Check this site for a calendar of his programs, or contact your local Scott dealer for more information.

Alex typically guides a number of different locations each year. You may find him in Chile, Alaska, or Lee's Ferry, AZ. Each summer Alex does a tour of duty with the Suskeena Lodge on the Sustut River in British Columbia. Normally, he has dates available through the lodge in late August and September, but he recommends booking early, because the user days are highly limited on this rare and wonderful piece of steelhead water. In the winter, he can be reached at Lee's Ferry Anglers in Marble, AZ, and in the summer he guides from King Salmon Lodge in King Salmon, AK.
