Scott has spent the last ten years guiding fly rodders in the West, from Northern California to Alaska. In the lower 48, his passion is putting his clients on Steelhead. In February, March, and April you'll find him pulling oars on Washington State's legendary spring Steelhead rivers, including the Skagit, Sauk and Skykomish. In the fall, he sets up shop in Oregon's spectacular Grand Ronde River country for summer run steelheading.
Scott is an elite spey caster and played a central role in designing our new ARC double handers. "On our big rivers in Washington and Alaska, two-handed rods have become king," Scott explains. "The long rod, as we call them, has opened up a whole new era in western steelhead and salmon fishing."
He specifically helped us incorporate progressive loading into the design of our two-handed rods - a concept that makes our rods cast just as well with heavy sink-tips and oversized flies as they do with a floating line and a #6 Green Butt Skunk.
With a never resting resume, Scott spends the summer months managing the Aniak River Lodge in Alaska. When he's not fishing, he's at the tying vise, where he has become an accomplished steelhead and classic Atlantic salmon fly tier.
