ARC STEELHEAD & SALMON
ARC 956/4

This is our absolute favorite for the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the Rio Grande, the Grand Canyon, and all other big river backpacking trips. The ARCs are somewhat faster action than G-Series rods, providing longer, more powerful fly rods that still maintain a progressive action. The ARC 956/4 is our best single-handed roll casting rod, and with an overhead cast you can quickly empty a whole weight forward fly line. After the cast, the ARC 956/4 rips out long stack mends and steers your strike indicator on long, cross-current dead drifts. ARC 956/4 is primarily a nymphing rod simply because the extra 6" are a tremendous advantage for mending, and less of an advantage for dry fly and streamer casting. ARC 956/4 is also a spectacular summer steelhead rod.
