ARC STEELHEAD & SALMON RODS
DOUBLE-HANDED RODS

Double-handed ARCs combine tradition with the cutting edge of steelhead and salmon technique. Modern anglers of these elusive species have reinvented the centuries old Spey cast and developed new techniques for using a long rod to advantage on broad rivers. Scott has reinvented the traditional tool. Our double-handed ARCs are the lightest, best Spey casting rods in the world. They were designed just two years ago, combining many of Scott's signature design features with the input of the West's top Spey casters.

  High Performance Features
1) All ARC double-handers cast long lines for efficiently covering salmon and steelhead drifts.
2) ARCs are designed for all modern Spey casting techniques, including single and double Spey casts, the "Snap T" and the "Circle Cast."
3) ARC double-handers offer superior line control for mending across stream and steering the fly on long, downstream swings.
4) Long, progressive action rods are extremely effective fish fighting tools. ARC double-handers provide tremendous leverage on fish in heavy water, but protect tippets with their shock absorbing action.

Rod designer Jim Bartschi enlisted the help of several of the West's top Spey casters to design 2-handed rods that would handle both summer and winter rivers, floating and sinking lines, and the array of creative techniques employed by today's steelhead and salmon anglers. Double-handed ARCs have exploded in popularity since their introduction in 1998, and are now the choice of serious anglers worldwide.

The Scott Internal Ferrule plays a fundamental role in the design of ARC double-handed rods. A pure flex curve is absolutely critical to the function of a Spey rod, because the nature of Spey casting requires the rod to flex consistently well into the butt section. Our internal ferrule flexes with the rest of the rod. We create these hollow tubes by rolling graphite on a steel mandrel, selecting materials and a taper pattern according to the qualities of the rod blank in which the ferrule is to be inserted. The ferrule fits inside of the adjoining blank parts. This allows us to maintain the diameter and taper of the blank from tip to butt. The result: a flex profile with no flat spots, and a rod that Spey casts more efficiently.
