SES 9011/3

This is our best tarpon rod for anglers who prefer the range of a 9' rod but also need a rod that is somewhat forgiving to cast. This rod is the product of our extensive Florida Keys research and development, and has also become popular among false albacore and bluewater anglers.

SES 9011/3: The SES 9011/3 is far and away the best casting 11 or 12 weight rod I've had the pleasure to fish. It didn't really surprise me that I could lob my Brittany spaniel out to 70 or 80 feet with ease, but it's also smooth, quiet, and pleasant at short and mid-range. South Texas tarpon fishing almost always involves blind casting among rolling fish in relatively deep water, but with this rod, both of your arms will still be the same length at the end of the evening. This is a truly exceptional heavy line fly rod.

SES 9011/3 is now my favorite tarpon rod, period! It casts like a dream, is strong during the fight and has the best looks of any rod in the Scott line (or from any other manufacturer). From May through October we have a decent tarpon fishery outside of Sebastian Inlet, with fish 40 to 90 lbs and occasionally a fish that may go over 100 lbs. Jack Crevalle, False Albacore, Cudas and Cobia round out the mix. I use a monocore line on this rod as I am usually fishing in water over 20 feet deep.
