HP 889/3 is a fantastic flats rod for windy conditions and is one of our best striped bass rods, especially from the boat. This is our most accurate casting 9-weight, and has the stability to control large poppers on windy days. The HP 889/3 is a fish fighting machine. Many large tarpon have been landed on the HP 888/3 and HP 889/3 due to their efficient leveraging abilities and Heliply reinforced butt sections. If you prefer to wade fish, we suggest the longer STS 909/3 or SES 909/3, but for a boat rod, this one is our favorite.
