This is an ideal rod for fishing terrestrials in tight quarters. G 704/3 is the choice of small stream anglers in the Appalachians and Midwest who fish large enough flies to require the casting command and control of a 4-weight line. Despite its short length, this rod is wonderfully progressive, designed to load and turn over a very short length of fly line.

| G 704/3: A little jewel of a rod. This is the one I reach for when heading for small streams, where a premium is placed on short casts, roll casting and threading a needle under overhanging streamside cover. This is an extremely accurate rod with the type of action perfectly suited for the purpose I intend. One thing that particularly impresses me about this rod is its ability to whip large fish in tight cover. Don't kid yourself! This wisp of a rod is plenty powerful and has brought quite a few fish over the 20" mark to hand with no problem. | ![]() |
