POWERPLY SERIES
G 904/4

As interest in multipiece fly rods has increased over the years, this rod has become even more popular than the 2-piece G 904. To this day, the G 904/4 is one of our best all-around trout rods. The G 904/4 is a silky caster, and is particularly effective with dry flies and long leaders. At 9', this rod is also a fine roll caster and light nymphing rod.

Performance Characteristics
Water type: All trout streams and small lakes
Optimum range: 20-70 feet
Wind rating: 4
Techniques: Mid-range casts and roll casting with a variety of fly types, both dry flies and light nymph rigs
Fish species: Trout, Panfish

G 904/4: I would categorize this rod as my "travelling spring creek rod." It's been everywhere from the Henry's Fork to the Paradise Valley spring creeks; from the Letort to the Tennessee tailwaters; from the West Branch of the Delaware to Idaho's Silver Creek. In all instances it has served me well. This rod goes with me whenever I anticipate flat water, shallow water, and spooky trout. The extra length is great for keeping backcasts out of the high weeds, mending line, and " high sticking" with tiny nymphs. Just as with any of the G Series, the action is well suited to my casting style. While I usually fish smaller dries with this rod I have no hesitation in tying on a big hopper or beetle and slamming the fly into the bank. This is an extremely versatile rod, one that has proved it's worth time and again over the years.
