The G 905/4 is one of the most popular New Zealand rods of all time. The reason is one that applies to many trout fishing situations: the angler must make long casts with relatively large flies, but also fight huge trout on light tippets. From the progressive tip to the powerful butt, the G 905/4 has the complete package. Also, it packs to half the size of the G 905.

| G 905/4: In spite of all the saltwater fishing I do, I still fish trout a few weeks a year, whether it's Montana, Colorado, Pennsylvania, New Zealand, or Alaska. While I always bring a few rods, no rod does it all for me like the G 905/4. It is very accurate at trout distances, I have good feel when mending, I am comfortable attempting difficult casts, and if I need to, it will throw a long line. Last year I took a few silver salmon in Alaska while fishing for big rainbows with both my G 904/4 and G 905/4. I'm spoiled and I know it. | ![]() |
