G 906

If you prefer a moderate action nymphing rod, the G 906 sets the standard. This rod has plenty of reach for line mending, and is one of our best roll casting rods. Some anglers prefer a fast action rod for nymphs and streamers, but the moderate action G 906 has distinct advantages. The progressive action helps form consistent casting loops with awkward strike indicators and split shot, and makes it easy to apply "english" for line mending across tricky currents. Also, the G 906 protects delicate tippets on large trout (Henry's Fork, San Juan, Green, Bighorn…)

G 904, G 905, G 906: The G 904, G 905 and G 906 are the workhorses of my guide rods. There is something about the way these models load line that feels great to me. They all offer plenty of power for casting and the muscle for landing heavier fish, while still providing gentleness for medium to large dry fly presentations. When I fish bigger water that has more openness for casting, I'll take these tools any day. They're truly smooth and effortless.
