If you travel, choose this rod over the SAS 908. Note: Serious saltwater anglers should use more specialized saltwater fly rods such as the STS, Heliply, or Eclipse Series. SAS Series saltwater rods are excellent rods for the price, and are well suited for local fishing applications. SAS saltwater rods are ideal backup equipment on a serious saltwater trip, but "the fish of a lifetime" should be pursued with the best equipment available. SAS 908/3 is a great all around rod for local bass, saltwater, salmon and steelhead anglers.
SAS 908/3 is somewhat faster action than 5, 6, and 7-weight rods in this series, and is designed for making powerful casts with large, wind resistant flies. SAS 908/3 is fit with an all-metal reel seat for protection against saltwater corrosion.
