TACTICAL SERIES SALTWATER
STS 9012/3
For the windiest conditions (Key West) we recommend this rod over the STS 9011/3, HP 8812/3, or SES 9012/3. The STS 9012/3 is the most powerful lifting rod in the STS Series, and is the preference of Phil O'Bannon and other Western Florida captains who fish for the world's largest tarpon. STS 9012/3 is also a fantastic sailfish rod.
| Performance Characteristics | |

| STS 9012/3: I like to use the STS 12-weight for fishing big early season tarpon, and for casting sinking lines for tarpon in deep water. The rod casts like a cannon, and when you hook a fish, you can be absolutely sure that you will have enough power to successfully fight and land your fish. My clients have also brought several bull sharks along side of the boat with the 12-weight; only a rod with exceptional power in the butt section could handle such a task. | ![]() |
