TACTICAL SERIES SALTWATER
STS 908/3
This is our favorite rod for bonefish and redfish that live in windy places. STS 908/3 is also a great rod for small and medium sized stripers, and has become very popular in the Northeast. The whole STS Saltwater Series is designed for windy conditions. Some anglers prefer a nine weight for casting larger flies, but STS 908/3 is capable of landing any bonefish or redfish, and most striped bass and permit. This is a Keys style fast action rod "for those who like it aldente" in the words of Florida Scott Pro Charlie Fornabio.
BASS FISHERMEN: In 1998, Fly Rod & Reel magazine tested 35 fly rods for freshwater bass fishing. Of all modern fly rods, STS 908/3 was rated the #1 bass rod in the world. Please e-mail us for more suggestions on largemouth bass fishing techniques and equipment.

| STS 908/3: The STS 908/3 can handle windy conditions when casting with heavy lead-eyed flies, as well as making soft, delicate presentations to tailing bonefish on glass calm days. When the wind picks up, I need a rod that can get the fly to the fish. I know that I can always rely on the STS 8-weight to punch through the wind and deliver anytime. | ![]() |

| STS 908/3 is a great rod for bigger freshwater fish and for many species in saltwater. I've caught browns, rainbows, big brook and record class lake trout (mackinaw), pike, salmon, and largemouth bass on it in freshwater, and striped bass, bluefish, false albacore, and more in the salt. Truly a fine all around rod, it casts both floating and all types of sinking lines well, is accurate at all distances, and is powerful too. | ![]() |
