STS 958/4

This is one of the only fly rods that we recommend for both saltwater fishing and salmon and steelhead. Most salmon and steelhead rods are too long to cast on windy saltwater flats. Most saltwater rods are too short and stiff to roll cast, mend line, and steer the fly. This rod does both. The STS Saltwater Series are our fastest action fly rods, so this rod doesn't get bogged down in the wind. In fact, it blasts casts up to 90 feet with little effort. For this reason, this is also an outstanding striped bass rod for beach fishing. The extra 6 inches really help the wading angler clear the surf and sand, and provide at least 10 extra feet of distance on the cast. STS 958/4 is also terrific steelhead and salmon rod for those who prefer a pure fast action rod.
