Kevin Feenstra is a Great Lakes specialist who has lived his whole life in West Michigan. He grew up fishing feeder creeks and eventually graduated to larger waters such as the Muskegon, Rogue and White Rivers. These rivers are the backbone of the local fishery, but to round out his experience, Kevin also spent several years fishing nothing but warm water species. He has a great deal of experience on the Lower Peninsula's lakes and warmer spring creeks in addition to the more well known cold water trout and steelhead streams.
Kevin does most of his guiding on the Muskegon and Rogue for trout and smallmouth bass. He also guides smaller creeks for trout and smallies, as well as the occasional exotic species (the lowly carp and rare walleye on the fly). During the dead of winter, Kevin teaches many fly tying classes and works on the Board of Directors of the West Michigan chapter of Trout Unlimited (850 members). He has appeared on television shows, including "Flyfishing with Glen Blackwood," and many of his trout and steelhead flies appear in popular fly tying manuals.
When he's not guiding or instructing, Kevin can almost always be found on the river. The Great Lakes region is famous for many types of fishing, but Kevin's favorite pursuit is chasing crimson-striped steelhead with sink tip lines and big streamers.
